Welp, I saw me some Pyramids

haha Welp, I saw me some Pyramids. It was a lot of fun! So for those of you that don't know anything about what we believe, more than anything we believe that Christ appeared to the Americas after his resurrection. We don't know where but we know that there were people here in this time. There are a lot of beliefs that they were here in Chiapas, the state in Mexico where I am serving. It was interesting to hold the Book of Mormon in my hands and thought about the civilization that lived here over 2000 years ago. It was a good feeling to think about how they were writing for people in our day and how I was in the spot that they originally were. I thought about the things that they must of done. It was sooooo cool to be there. I was running everywhere and climbing on everything. haha. The one where I was sitting down is where they buried the dead apparently haha. There is one where I was lying down and that just looked to me where they did human and animal sacrifices haha I thought it was funny at least... but yeah it was awesome. Met some people from Scotland there...they didn't really want to talk to us haha but it was fun.  Work is going good.  Spanish is basically completely here haha which is AWESOME. I love you all. smile! Oren y lean.

God is still a God of miracles

Hola!

This week was really good. We worked really hard and ended up having a lot of people come to church. There was a guy that came with his family. He was telling the people in our class how he came to know us (the missionaries). He said he and his wife went down south a couple hours to be with her family for Christmas. He is an alcoholic and she never likes when he drinks. On the 23rd they got in a huge fight and him and his son came back here to Comitan to have a break for a couple days. They didnt want to spend Chirstmas alone so they ended up going to the coast to spend Christmas. Well like with his wife, he started to drink again, got mean, and him and his 14 year old son got in a fight. His son ran away and said he was going to come back to Comitan on his own. He ran off and his Dad couldn't find him for a day. He ended up driving back here and when he got here, he found his son sitting on the couch watching T.V. He didn't know how he got back because he didn't have money but in one way or another, he got back. He said he went to his room to pray for the first time in a long time asking God to help him change. He said he was sorry for the way he acted with his wife and son and he never wants to lose them again. Not too long after, my companion and I knocked on the door and taught him for the first time. Since we have talked, he said he hasn't drank. He also read 33 chapters of the gospel principles book that we have in the church, all in 3 days! He is getting baptized this month and we are going to keep going with his family as well. It's awesome how God works and when we need something the most, the answers come in one form or another.

There is a lady named Clara here that I truly love. We baptized her like 3 months ago and she is 72 (maybe a little too old for me haha I'm kidding) She has 9 kids, 25 grandkids, and 5 great great grandkids (good luck Dad toppin' that one haha). She came back from a month long vacation and told us she had a heart disease. It made me super sad and I didn't know what to say. She said she didn't think it was too serious but she would find out soon. We gave her a blessing and the spirit was sooo strong. We came by her house last week to see how the appointment with the doctor was and she told us that the doctors couldnt find anything wrong at all. They said they couldn't find any sort of problem and that she was completely healthy :) Just shows that through the faith we have, God is still a God of miracles. I hope everyone is doing good in America! I love ya'll and miss ya'll very much. I have 11 months today I cant even believe it. I got to go but I love all of ya'll and cant wait to see ya again. I'll have pictures up next week because...well im going to see some pyramids right now haha SUCKAS! sonrean y oren

I put a regular sock up, Santa must not have thought it was funny

Hola!

Happy 2012! Welp, hope you all made changes in your life because on Dec. 21st this year, the world is coming to an end! haha Not true. We get asked that a lot here because the Mayan calender says that and I am close to the Mayans. But yeah it was a good Christmas and New Years. We didn't do much really. We had church on Christmas and then we ate and talked with families and yeah. We had to be in the house at 9:00 both nights so that was a bummer but no worries. It was awesome talking with family. I hope ya'll had a great holidays. I am still in Comitan. I'll be here at least til Feb. 5th or something so I'm so excited about that. The pictures were of the food we ate. It was a lot of finder foods with chips but they were all sooo good. We did a Secret Santa in our district and we spent like 100 pesos which is like less than ten bucks. I got a sweet soccer jersey and snickers haha. There is one of a fence that says BUZON...for those of you who dont know what that means...it's what they say for the mail box haha. I just thought that was too funny. One of them was the Christmas eve sunset, it was really pretty. The other one was the stockings we hung up...I put up a sock haha I was too cheap to buy one. Santa must not have thought it was funny because I didn't get anything haha. Like all of our investigators left this week but we found others. There was a lot of drunk people in the streets the day after Christmas and New Years it was funny. Drunk people are so nice to us. But yeah it was good. One christmas down in the mission. I'm coming up on 11 months in the mission, can't believe it. But I love you and thanks for everything ya'll sent me! smile!
